i have a necklace pendant of this exact symbol and i cant figure out what type of symbolism is associated with it. Or what type of mythologies its from/associated with. any help would be greatly appreciated.
There are other very similiar symbols of a serpent/s on a "rod" which are medical symbols (Caduceus & The Rod of Asclepius). Those should not be confused with this one as this one involves a "cross".
Since it has a cross, so in Christianity the cross represents Jesus and the serpent represents Satan or man's sins. The serpent can also represent Jesus. There are several verses in the Bible that relates with Moses putting a serpent on a cross to help lift and heal man from his own sins with Jesus's love.
Numbers 21:
8-And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
9-And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
