Can I wear these type of jewelry?
Do you have to be Christian, Catholic, etc.. to wear jewelry with crosses on them?
I was at the mall the other day and I saw this really cute cross with turquoise rocks and little rhinestones on them and the setting was really pretty (forever 21) but my friend just wouldn't let me buy it and got mad at me cause she said I couldn't wear those things because I didn't go to church etc.. I am not an atheist if you are wondering but I'm not really sure what religion i am. So can i wear cross jewelry? She got really mad at me but to me its an accessory
You don't have to be Christian, but it is silly and nonsensical to wear a cross just as a piece of secular jewelry.
Here is another way of looking at it. Many kids and even ignorant adults like the musician Carlos Santana will wear tshirts with a picture of Che Guevera on the front. They think they are cool for wearing it because they saw some other fool wearing one. They don't even realize that Che was a murdering scumbag down in Cuba. He murdered hundreds of people to include some of his closest friends.
Why would you wear such a shirt other than total stupidity???? The good thing about wearing a cross is that it is the exact opposite of a Che shirt. The cross represents salvation and total sacrifice and LOVE. Wear it if you want, but please learn about it. Maybe it will be a big experience in your life to learn more.

Do you have to be Christian, Catholic, etc, to wear jewelry with crosses?
I was born a Buddhist (I'm part Vietnamese, part Chinese) but I'm not really religious at all. I don't go to temples or anything. But I always see really cute jewelry at the store with crosses on them. But I don't ever buy them since it makes me feel like I'm sort of betraying my own religion, if that makes sense? O.o Idk. I don't really believe in gods or deities, I was just born with this religion. So do you think it's ok to wear crosses if I'm not Christian, Catholic, or even religious?
Nope. There are all sorts of people in Hollywood who wear eastern symbols because they think they are cool or will seem intelligent to people who also do not understand the symbol.
Not being Christian and wearing a cross would be silly though. It is like you are making a statement about something you don't care about.
It would be like me wearing a unicorn necklace just because a lot of other people in a culture wear them even though I don't even know what a unicorn is.
Don't be offended wearing a cross if people assume you are a Christian.
It is like wearing dirty clothes, long shabby hair and a lot of tattoos. You have to be ready to be taken for a democrat, hippie or bum(or all three) because your appearance fits a profile.
