What do you think about Christians wearing star of david necklaces?
This girl that goes to my school, well she's Christian. She wore a star of david necklace today, and me, being Jewish found that kind of strange. I mean I wouldn't go around wearing a cross.
I'm just wondering, I asked her where she got it and she said she just got it because she thought it was pretty. I thought that was weird, since she's Christian.
Many who call themselves Christians are really not.
If one who wears the Star of David really is a Christian, then they are naive to its true meaning and all that it entails.

Is it offensive to wear a Christian cross and a Jewish star around your neck?
It's not that I encountered anyone who does but as a novelist, I have a character who was born in a Jewish culture and later switches to Christianity. She wears a necklace with a Christian cross and David's star but keeps them hidden inside her dress shirt all the time.
But the question is whether if that's offensive or not. The two religions are very, very similar.
Thanks a lot for the answers! I'm extremely sorry if this question offended many of you. Just in case you're curious, I am an age 16 Christian and my mother donates to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. So... I kinda thought they had an allience going on.

And no - the faiths are NOT 'very similar'.
Please, before you feature Judaism in your novel, at least LEARN the accurate facts. I'm Jewish and I can assure you, Judaism and Christianity DISAGREE on most things.
And nobody should be wearing both a symbol of Judaism AND Christianity. A Jew who becomes a Christian = a CHRISTIAN. And they are an Apostate, in Jewish religious law.
Read this list of differences between the faiths and then try and tell me they are 'very, very similar'. You need to educate yourself on Judaism BEFORE making statements like that:
Christianity = the rejection of Judaism.
Now, this is not to imply that one faith is right and one is wrong, or that one is somehow 'better' than the other. Not at all. But let's be crystal clear: Christianity does represent a rejection of core Jewish beliefs.
For those out there reading this, and now muttering in disagreement, take a look at the things Judaism and Christianity disagree on:
JUDAISM
- says that no human can ever die for the sins of others
CHRISTIANITY
- says that Jesus died for the sins of mankind
JUDAISM
- says that all humans are born pure, and innocent
CHRISTIANITY
- says that all humans are born with 'original sin'.
JUDAISM
- says that G-d would never allow/enable a 'virgin birth'
CHRISTIANITY
- says that Mary gave birth, though a virgin
JUDAISM
- says that no man gets a 'second coming'
CHRISTIANITY
- says that Jesus will have a 'second coming'
JUDAISM
- says that every human should speak directly to G-d
CHRISTIANITY
- Jesus claims in the 'new testament' that the 'only way' to G-d is via him
JUDAISM
- says G-d is one, indivisable, cannot be separated into three aspects/incarnations
CHRISTIANITY
- speaks of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit
JUDAISM
- says that we are ALL equally G-d's children
CHRISTIANITY
- says that Jesus was 'god's son' above all others
JUDAISM
- has no concept of 'hell'
CHRISTIANITY
- *some* Christians non believers to 'hell'
JUDAISM
- has no 'devil', the Jewish 'satan' is just an ordinary angel, under G-d's control
CHRISTIANITY
- describes 'satan' as a devil and 'fallen' angel
JUDAISM
- the 'messiah' will be a normal, mortal man who must fulfill all the Jewish messianic prophecies in one normal, mortal lifetime
CHRISTIANITY
- Jesus was the 'messiah' and will fulfill the prophecies when he 'returns'
JUDAISM
- says that the righteous of ALL faiths will reach 'gan eden' or 'garden of eden'.
CHRISTIANITY
- *some* Christians insist that only those who 'know Christ' can reach heaven
JUDAISM
- forbids Jews from trying to convert anyone to Judaism
CHRISTIANITY
- believes in actively 'witnessing' and encouraging people to convert to Christianity
These are just some of the differences between Judaism and Christianity. Only those unaware of such differences could possibly state that the two faiths are 'similar or, even more bizarrely, that they are the 'same'.

Either Sarah Silverman is doing it to court publicity OR she has changed faiths because Jews DON'T wear crosses, period.
To the asker: I guarantee you will be offending virtually every Jewish person if your book gets published. How would you feel if Muslims wore crosses? Or if Scientologists wore crosses? Would that be OK with you?
Jews don't wear symbols of Christianity or ANY other faith - end of.

I know you meant your question very genuinely and didn't intend any offence. Please understand, NO Jew has any problem with Christianity.
We just do get a bit weary when we are always being told (not by you, I mean in many other posts) that Christianity is 'perfected' Judaism! You can imagine that offends us....!
