should we not praise any religious statues? is it bad if we do worship statues of Christ, Mary, Saints, etc.?
...i dont know from what chapter and verse this phrases can be seen..it was said that you should not worship any statue for this is idolatry... what do you think... should we not worship our statues of CHRIST, MARY, SAINTS, etc?

answer: ...We should NEVER worship statues.
Religious-type statues, icons, paintings, etc. are merely
artists' creative / historical depictions / remembrances
about God / the Bible / and the Saints, which we honor
through art. We honor them in the same way as you may
honor portraits / pictures of your own family members.
Would you pray to the statue of Abraham Lincoln at the
'Lincoln Memorial'? I think not. That's how ridiculous it to
assume that we, Catholics would actually pray to an
inanimate statue or painting.
As I look upon the (corpus), the crucifix of our Lord, Jesus,
I remember Jesus dying on the cross. I close my eyes.
Sometimes I kneel in front of that crucifix, and I pray, (not
to that cross). I bow my head and sob, remembering the
horrible passion of Our Lord, and I remember His great
sufferrings. I know Jesus hears my prayers. I pray to my
Savior, (not to that cross).
It is not idolatry to look at statues of President George
Washington, either. There's a great obelisk, a monument,
to George Washington in Washington, DC.
I'm trying to get you to understand how Catholics actually
appreciate art, religious art. If you have been taught / or told
otherwise, you are a victim of a lie. Art is to be appreciated,
and can be used as 'inspiration', w / no intention as idolatry.
I pray for you ...Dear Lord Jesus, please help this person /
you, as you go forth to love and serve the Lord in your life.

Why are statues of Mary/Saints and images of Jesus covered during lent?
I noticed that every statue and painting of St. Joseph, St. Anthony, Mary, and Jesus in my church are all covered by a dark purple veil type cloth, why is this?
It was never the custom in the Latin Rite to cover statues "during Lent," but crosses and statues were covered during passiontide (the last week of Lent and then in Holy Week). In ancient times many of the crosses in churches were "gemmatae," that is, covered with jewels and bare of a corpus or with a corpus of the risen Savior, a sign of the resurrection. These crosses were covered during passiontide to help people meditate more on the sufferings of Jesus. If the crosses were covered, it was thought necessary to cover also all the other pictures and statues. In the course of years, especially influenced by Franciscan spirituality in the 13th century, the cross "evolved" and most crosses were crucifixes, vividly showing the death of Christ. How ever, the "covering custom" continued. Some people thought it came from the old Gospel text for the Fifth Sunday of Lent, which spoke of Jesus "hiding Himself" from the crowd, but that was only an "applied" (and erroneous) meaning of the custom. Today, after the Second Vatican Council, the covering of crosses and statues is left to the discretion of national Bishops' Conferences. The U.S. Bishops recommend against this covering, but most bishops leave the entire matter to the decision of pastors of parishes. The U.S. Bishops suggest a covering of the cross during Holy Week, because the "unveiling of the cross" in the Good Friday liturgy then makes more sense.
