Is wearing an inverted cross a social taboo?
I came across this necklace I thought was pretty cool. It is a gold inverted cross but i don't know whether i should wear it or not because i know its the symbol of satanists. Is it ok to wear one?
Are you sure it's an inverted cross? Some Eastern European crosses have an extra line through them and they are perfectly fine.
If it is truly an inverted cross, you may risk offending someone, you may also risk being associated with a sect that has nothing to do with you. Would you wear an Egyptian Ankh and still feel okay with it? It would probably have the same taboo with those that would care.
Oh! Trivia - did you know that St Peter (the first Pope, the one Jesus said was His Rock) was crucified upside down, because he said he wasn't worthy to die the way his Lord died. So it doesn't have to be a sign of evil.

By the way, if you really love the cross, why not just ask the jewellery shop to move the hook to the other end so it's not inverted and you won't have any problem?
