Russian tatoo meanings?
I just want to know if russian tatoos have any meaning? My daughters father has some tatoos from Russian prison my friend Kelly says they tell you what the person did in prison?Daughters father has a rose on his lower arm,Crucifix on his chest,tiger on his leg,Star on knee,small spider down his chest, a wolf face on his chest,what looks like part of a cathedral on his hand with letters,and a russian saying with angels on either side on his back.All his tatoos are blurry most are also not that big .Anyone know?
Too me they look like a mix mash of tatoos with russian words i think.My daughters father is in banking now so i doubt he is a criminal anymore.

Yes, of course, tattooes have their meaning all the time, and especially in prisons, because this is the way of expression their life stories, why they are in prison and for how long, and what is their status in prison, etc.

Rose - this is usually a symbol, that is saying that a person celebrated his/her 18th birthday in the prison;
Crucifix - Jesus with the handcuffs says that - "will not betray the thief's laws";
Virgin Marry and Jesus - read as "i'm clean in front of my friends and can't betray";
Tiger - irreconcilability, implacability;
Star - rebelliousness, also depend what kind of star it is, if it is a star with eight or six ends on the knee, that may be translated as "no one will be able to put me on my knees";
Spider - usually spider is the tattoo of a pickpocket (when it is on the hands, between fingers), but it has other meanings also, if a tattoo is on the neck then it says that a prisoner is a one who commits a breach of the peace in the prison and had been punished several times;
Wolf - couldn't find the meaning of this tattoo.
Cathedral - here you may intepret the meaning - how many years a person was sitting in the prison, by counting the number of dome;
Angels - usually symbol of hopes, fallen angel - crashed hopes;
Text tattooes are usually assurance in love, conjurations, threats, complaints on the destiny, aphorisms. Sometimes text tattooes are divided into several parts and each part made for a particular person. For example, "BRO" and "THERS" then when two prisoners meet each other and shake hands, one word "brothers" may be seen.

Why is the 'Jesus nailed to a cross image' so wrong?
Ok...so you see carvings, statues, crucifixes. pictures, all of Jesus nailed to the cross...nails thru hands and feet. BUT...this is not how they did this...the nails were thru the wrists and the ankles...so why the false impression?
I think more importantly... think about this now... When any of your friends, family or relatives died or in their moments of extreme pain and agony... why didn't some good christian jump in with a camera to take a photo so you could put that on your mantle as a keep sake photo to admire as we admire the person on the cross scenario
