silver jesus What did Judas do with the silver that he got for betraying Jesus?
One tradition has Judas attempting to return the silver, ashamed of himself. In this story his offer was refused and, full of remorse, Judas hung himself. (from a Judas tree)
In another story Judas died of old age on a piece of property he purchased with the tarnished silver.
This has a Celtic meaning, but I have forgotten EXACTLY what it is. Can anyone help?
I think it's something like:
"With two hands I give you my heart, and crown it with my love"
However I did think there was another meaning???
It is the name of an Irish community who lived only on fish and what they could grow on their land, which lay between Lough Corrib and Galway Bay in the west of Ireland. The region became known as "The Claddaugh" (pronounced "Cladda") after the name of the tribe that lived there. Their village has now been flattened and the land cleared, but the inhabitants stayed in the area and they are very strongly linked by tradition with each other. They had a wedding ring called "The Claddaugh Ring" and strictly speaking, it should only be worn by descendants of the Claddaugh tribe. It features a heart surmounted by a crown and clasped between two hands. The interpretation which embodies the three symbols is: "Let Love and Friendship Reign". It also embodies a once-secret code: If the ring is worn with the crown towards the finger tips, it signifies that I am married. whereas if the crown is pointing towards the knuckle, it means I am looking for a spouse. Finally, legend has it that you must not buy one of these rings for yourself or it will bring you ill fortune - you have to be given one. So now you know !!!! And do remember to give one of the respondents a "Best Answer".

You can check out the current road conditions on the Blue Ridge Parkway by calling 511 from your mobile phone or at the 511 Virginia website (1st link below).

christian cross necklace Christian crosses in anime?
I've been noticing that a lot of anime I've seen lately has had a lot of characters wearing christian crosses on a necklace, clothing, or some other item. I've seen it most recently in Tokko and in other shows like Air TV, Burst Angel, and Fate/Stay Night to name a few. I just thought it was a little strange considering that Japan's Christian population is only around 2.6 million, or only 2.04% Japan's total 127.3 million population. The majority of Japanese (84-96%) practice Buddhists and Shintoists as their religion. Does the cross have another meaning in Japanese culture that I don't know of? This is just something that I've been wondering about lately.
I think the cross may have simply made its way into japanese pop culture, without necessarily being connected with its christian background.
I was thinking of getting this necklace since I like the design, and it fits my rocker style look. However I am not Christian, just wondering what do you guys think of this? Should I be wearing it or is it a no no.
That's actually a solar cross, the original modal of the Celtic cross, and sometimes called the Druid Cross. It's pagan, and has its origins in pre-Roman England, Ireland and Scotland, and is seen as far back as the Stone age. It's very ancient as a symbol, and is considered a symbol of masculine energy and is also a symbol of the solstice. It was expropriated by the christians as they destroyed the pagan traditions of England and as the celtic cross they elongated the bottom leg of the cross. Wear it, it's quite cool and isn't christian in the least. Here's a bit more about this fascinating symbol:
