crystal cross necklace How do you summon your luck?
Some People See Them
I broke a knuckle crossing my fingers,
waiting for my luck to suit up
and set the red carpet on fire.
Lucky turned into "Hey, I'm
alive." and I buried all the tricks
and signs and checkered thoughts
right along with the gimmicks, somewhere
safe, where I would not be tempted to look.
Today I stumbled across them, in an X-ray
folder, Dr. Somebody
said there was nothing in them
but I saw
they were there, taking a bow,
the rabbit's foot
the clover with all four
a cross, slightly bent
three magic beans
my grandfather's photo
an unreadable poem
two shots of Bushmill's finest
an old necklace
from a young whore who squeezed my heart flat and flung it skyward
a black Bible
a brown snarl of hair
from a white horse
and a crystal ball
held
with praying hands
that were creased from neglect
and bathed
in the essence
of light.
I will not claim them.
They have served a higher
purpose.
if you can read these words, you are here
not quite there yet, but
no there either
and you got here because
you're lucky
cross necklaces for men Do you have to be Christian to wear a cross?
I noticed that a lot of necklaces and bracelets (especially for men) have cross pendants on them.. I was wondering if it would be weird to wear a cross if i'm atheist?
Thanks
I would say, Yes. Just as it is respectful to refrain from wearing a Star fo David if one is not Jewish, one should refrain from wearing a cross if they are not Christian. Each symbolizes certain values, and if the wearer does not "comply" with those values, one can be accused of being a hypocrite. Now, you wouldn't want to be called a hypocrite, would you? Then don't set yourself up for such a charge.
As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
MARANATHA! Come, Lord Jesus, COME!
kids cross necklace What city was it that the kid just got suspended for wearing a cross necklace?
I have a feeling it was in California somewhere but could be mistaken.. anyone know where that just happened? I guess that school only allows kids wearing Mao or Cha necklaces, T-shirts and Skull tattoos?
Sorry I mean CHE Guevara.
The poor kids brother just died in CAR Accident and is getting PUNISHED? For wearing a FAITH BASED NECKLACE!!!!!
I guess AUSTIN, TX is being infiltrated with commies - I forgot about that.
It was Texas City:

Edit: You guys ever notice how thumb trolls never bother reading facts, even if they're provided for them?
My dad died last year and since he died, I wore his cross necklace..through the year i have been wearing it, the cross keeps falling off, or i always have to take it off, either because I always got headaches from it( not even kidding) when I would take it off my headache would be gone..I found my St. Brigids necklace he gave me when I was younger..the same thing is happening again..But this time i just lost the cross part of the necklace, i cant find it anywhere. I don't know what to do, should i buy another one, or should i just leave it.. do you think its a sign..because this has been happening with other things from him..I don't know if he doesnt want me to think of him or what?
Thats the point..its not the metal..
haha i wear necklaces like his all the time, its just the ones that have some sort of connection to him
Perhaps when you wear these necklaces, you tend to think more about your dad, thus bringing on the headaches. As for the loss of the cross, maye the chain was faulty.
I am so sorry for you loss. You must have been very close to him.
saint John Saint John preached ''repent'' is that still relevant today?
Every thing is different today, why the same old message. What would saint john say today?
Repent:
1: to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one's life2 a: to feel regret or contrition b: to change one's mind
Everybody makes mistakes. To understand what you did wrong, feel regret, and not do it again is how we grow and become part of the larger community. That is as relevant today as ever.
However, St. John had the idea that repentance could help you in the after life. If you do not believe in the after life, repentance is still important for the reason above, but the preparation for after life may be irrelevant to those who do not believe in one. That was also true in the time of St John.
I do not understand why you think his message would be different today, or why it has lost relevance.
