Accessory celtic Christians ... accessories with non-Christian symbols on them?
This is a question for Christians regarding Christian belief. This isn't about people being "silly" or "superstitious", so no stupid answers or haters, please. i want to know what Christians think.
OK, here goes.
Is it wrong (Frowned upon, directly spoken out against in religious texts, or anything in between) for a Christian to wear clothes or accessories containing non Christian symbols. For example, Celtic crosses, pentagrams and so on (Basically, goth stuff), as a fashion item.
Emily: You wear a cross to represent your faith, but the rest is just fashion. I suppose that I'm asking is it wrong for a Christian to wear these symbols as a fashion item.
Not that I know of. I've seen Celtic crosses used as grave markers.
saint Kateri Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha as Confirmation name?
First of all, it is okay to have a Blessed as my "saint," right?
Second, I was looking her up earlier and there seems to be a lot of controversy amongst Native Americans, as to whether she was a traitor, or her whole story was made up by churches to trick the rest into becoming assimilated, etc.
...Does anyone know anything about this?
Lastly, just any information besides being the patron saint of ecology/nature and the more obvious stuff.
If you have any cool information, that'd be great!
tekakwitha was real..the story is not.
if she converted fine but the part about how horrible we were to her are untrue. it was made to convince our people to be like the catholics and not the "bad indians". the reason it worked is because we would NEVER treat a woman like they say she was treated and any native hearing the story would be upset with those "bad" indians.
its a lie that was changed over and over in different places...the converted person who is persecuted by his/her own people. its meant to evoke sympathy and compassion.
not the first time missionaries have lied to trick people into converting, and not the last either. they still do.
gold cross necklace 10 caret necklace needing some help?
I have this little gold cross necklace and its 10 carets, i want to take it to get money for it. where should i take it? And how much would i get back for it?
ebay! ha just kidding.. well dont take it to a pawnshop cuz they rip people off. what i would do is go to an expensive jewelry store like zales or kay jewlers to get an estimate of how much it would cost. then after u find out u can sell it on amazon.com or u can go to a local aution and sell it. u know they places where people bid on things. and the guy goes going once going twice sold for a million dollars. lol. or u can sell it to a freind...i dont know. i guess if your desperate for money go to a pawnshop but only do that if all else fails.
St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery Madeline Island, Wisconsin
What does the Catholic Church teach about the widowed remarrying? Is this acceptable? Joseph was remarried no?
There is nothing wrong with remarrying if one's spouse has passed away. The marital vows say, "Until death do us part." As John the Baptist exclaimed to King Herod Antipas, "You may marru the wife of your brother when your brother is dead but not while he lives!"
